Heinemann Soccer announced today that they have extended their partnership with Umbro for another year. This marks three years that Umbro has partnered with Heinemann Soccer. This agreement establishes Umbro as the sole equipment provider for all Heinemann Soccer camps and clinics. Umbro, based in
Manchester, England, has been distributing football (soccer)
equipment world-wide for 90 years. The “double diamond”,
as it is commonly referred to, is one of the largest equipment
suppliers in the world and is known for their recent sponsorship
of the English Premier League’s Everton Football Club, who
finished 5th in the Barclays Premier League this past season.
Harold Humphries, the man who started Umbro in his teens,
was around the same age as Tom Heinemann was when he
started Heinemann Soccer. In 1924, Harold started his
sportswear company in a small house on Green Lane in
Wilmslow, England. He had the idea to bring a tailoring
touch to sportswear in hopes of stylishly accommodating
the practical needs of the competitive athlete. Umbro started
as a small company, with the first deliveries made by handcarts,
but within 10 years it grew into a well-known and widely owned
football brand. Owner Tom Heinemann was very enthusiastic of the partnership. He spoke of what it meant to endorse the iconic football sportswear distributor, “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Umbro.
